Several teams from the Atlantic District are attending the 2018 USA Hockey National Championships. After day two, here are a few updates from the District. Boys Tier I:
Two tough losses for the 14U Colonials. Game 1 resulted in a shootout loss against Perinton Youth Hockey and game two was an overtime loss to the Dallas Stars Elite. 14U Colonials third game is Saturday at 3:30pm.
15O Mercer Chiefs won one game against Team Wisconsin and lost against Buffalo Jr. Sabres. Their third game is scheduled Saturday at noon against Cleveland Barons.
16U NJ Avalanche with one win (10-1 against Washington Little Caps) and one close game loss (6-5) against Little Caesars.
NJ Avalanche 18U has won two games – 4-3 against Sioux Falls Stampede and 5-0 against Chicago Mission. They play their third game against Yale Bulldogs National on Saturday at 5:30pm.
Boys Tier II:
14U Palmyra Black has won their first two games, Tri City Eagles (6-1) and Express (2-0). Palmyra is hoping for their third win tomorrow against South Shore Kings Black at 3:15. Jersey Shore Wildcats have gone 1-1 and play their third Saturday at 5:00pm against New Canaan. Games for the Wildcats so far have been Chelsea Chiefs Gold – a 2-1 OT win and a 5-3 loss to South Hills Panthers. NJ Avalanche with two great wins – 4-1 to Indy Jr. Fuel and 8-1 to Alaska Oilers. The Avalanche hope for a third win tomorrow at 9:15am against Carolina Stars.
16U NJ Bandits are hoping for a Saturday win after two losses – Massena/St Lawrence Thunder (3-1) and Southern Connecticut Stars (3-0). Hershey Jr. Bears have two wins under their belt and play their third game Saturday at 11:00am against Wisconsin. Delaware Ducks are also celebrating two great wins – a big 10-1 win over Oklahoma City Oil Kings and an even bigger 11-0 win over Team Wyoming. Game three is expected to be an exciting one against Team SD at 5:00pm on Saturday. Igloo Jaguars have gone 1-1 with a 4-1 loss against Highland Park Falcons and then a 7-3 win over Toledo Cherokee.
18U Delaware Ducks are happy with their two big wins – 12-3 over Team Wyoming and 5-5 over Utah Golden Eagles. The Ducks play their third game Saturday at 8:00pm against Atlanta Fire. NJ Freeze has had two close games ending in one win (5-4 over South Florida Golden Wolves) and one loss (3-2 against Chicago Bruins). Game three will be played on Saturday at 4:00 against Minnesota Moose. Quakers are hoping for a third win against Mid State Mustangs Saturday at 4:00. Quakers have won 4-0 against Littleton Hawks and 6-2 against Springfield Rifles.
Girls Tier I:
Philadelphia Jr. Flyers 14U have a 4-2 win over Detroit Little Caesars and a 2-0 loss to Chicago Young Americans. Their third game is Saturday at 8:30am against Dallas Stars Elite. NJ Colonials 16U have two upsets (4-1 East Coast Wizards and 3-1 Shattuck St Mary) and are hoping for a win tomorrow at 12:10 against Belle Tire. 19U NJ Colonials also have two losses. They play Niagara Jr Purple Eagles 19U Saturday at 3:50pm.
Girls Tier II:
Princeton Tiger Lillies 16U have two losses so far but play their third game Saturday at 1:40 against Brewster Bulldogs.
