Congratulations to the Atlantic District Players Selected in the NHL Draft

Congratulations to the three Atlantic District players selected in the NHL draft.

Mitchell Gibson, a 6/25/1999 born goalie was selected by the Washington Capitals in the fourth round. In his youth, Gibson played for Team Comcast (Currently Virtua Hockey) as well as the Philadelphia Junior Flyers.

In the 2017-2018 season Gibson was awarded the following:

  • NAHL (South) Goaltender of the Year
  • NAHL (South) Most Valuable Player
  • NAHL All-NAHL Team
  • NAHL All-Rookie First Team
  • NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team
  • NAHL All-South Division Team
  • NAHL Goaltender of the Year
  • NAHL Rookie of the Year

In the 2016-2017 season, he was given the AYHL 18U (Premier) Great-American Goalie award. In 2015-2016, the AYHL 18U Champion and in 2014-2015, the 16U Best GAA (1.44) and 16U Best SVS% (.942) by the USPHL.

Tyler Madden was drafted to the Vancouver Canucks in the third round. Tyler had a few youth hockey years playing for the NJ Colonials. In the 2017-2018 season, Tyler was given the USHL All-Rookie Second Team award. in 2016-2017, the USHS First Team All-New England Team (West) award was granted to Tyler.

Mattias Samuelsson, born 3/14/2000 in Voorhees, NJ was drafted in the second round to the Buffalo Sabres. In 2017-2018, Mattias won both the “U18 WJC Silver Medal” and the “U18 WJC Top 3 Player on Team” awards. In the 2015-2016 season, he was awarded the “YOG Gold Medal.” In 2014-2015, he was given the “WSI U15 Best Defenseman” award.
