The Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA), the Atlantic Affiliate of USA Hockey,  is pleased to offer an award to either a registered USA Hockey Disabled Discipline player participating on a USA Hockey Disabled Discipline team/program or to a non-profit USA Hockey registered Disabled Disciplines team/program . 

A  one thousand dollar ($1,000) non-renewable award is available to support the development and growth of a disabled athlete or program in the AAHA.

Disabled Disciplines include:

• Blind Hockey
• Deaf/Hard of Hearing Hockey
• Sled Hockey
• Special Hockey
• Standing Amputee Hockey
• Warrior Hockey (disabled Veterans)

Applicants must be currently registered with USA Hockey as a player or program in the AAHA without regard to race, sex, religion or financial need.   Awards are non-renewable and selections made by the Review Committee are final.  Selection will be based on:

• Letter of interest that describes the player/program and reason for the submission of the application.  If a program, please describe the program including the number of members, number of years in existence, board of directors, etc.
• Plan for the use of the award which should address growth or development opportunities
• Letters of recommendation from a coach or community in support of the application

Announcements of the awardee will be made in May via the email address included in the application.  Only those applicants selected to receive an award will be notified. 

Each awardee must respond in writing to accept the award by the date in the notification letter. 

Applicants must complete the on-line application form and upload the following documents as attachments.  Each document must be labeled with your First and Last Name or Program name and document type (i.e. Jim Smith-Letter of Interest; Jim Smith-Community Letter of Support).  

Submitted applications that are not in compliance with these instructions will not be reviewed. 

• Headshot photo or program logo in .jpg format (to be used in the announcement if selected)
• Letters of interest and support and plans for growth

The deadline for submission of applications is April 1st.
