The following Clubs have been approved as AAHA Tier I AAA Organizations for either Youth and/or Girls teams (as indicated) and are permitted to conduct tryouts and offer contracts on or after Wednesday April 10, 2019.

Any Club or Club official/coach making claims of having Tier I and/or “AAA” status, whose Club is not in the list of 2019-2020 AAHA Tier I Approved Clubs & levels is in violation of AAHA Rules and Regulations, and subject to sanctions.

In March of 2019, USA Hockey issued a Frequently Asked Questions document. You can find it here. This document attempts to answer many of the common questions that parents and clubs have during the tryout period. The USAH FAQ is applicable for both Tier I and Tier II.

The AAHA Board of Directors has an approved set of dates for tryouts, based upon age, level and classification. The following AAHA rules are applicable for all Clubs and teams, irrespective of their level and classification.

(3)    No Tryouts Prior to 48-Hours After Nationals. No team(s), organization(s) or program may hold tryouts, evaluations, training camps, skills sessions, or any other program that has players who were not registered with that team, organization or program the previous season, prior to 48 hours after the end of USA Hockey's National Championships without being in violation of this Rule.

(4)    Penalties for Teams and Coaches Violating Try-Out Rules. Team (s), organization (s), or program(s) found in violation of these bylaws, may lose their privilege of being eligible to compete at Districts and toward a national championship for a period of up to three (3) years. Coaches found in violation may be suspended up to five (5) years.

NOTE: The AAHA does authorize tryouts for 12U and below, prior to the USA Hockey National Tournament, which is permitted under USA Hockey rules.

IMPORTANT: Please read the USA Hockey FAQ on Tryouts and Player Recruiting. Under the guidance of USA Hockey and the AAHA Rules, the AAHA has the authority to determine a player’s eligibility for any AAHA registered team. Upon determining violations from pre-tryout activity, improper recruiting prior to the “Open Period”, and/or premature player contracting, the Affiliate is authorized to issue sanctions that include; ineligibility from participating in State, District and National Championships, suspension of involved coach(es) and prohibiting the violating club from rostering of the involved player(s).
