This past week 9/26 through 9/29, the Atlantic District hosted what was to be a workshop for coaches interested in coaching hockey for our players with disability . Although the workshop was postponed for now we were able to have the USA Hockey National Sled Hockey teams 1st training camp & a level 1 certification with over 40+ coaches on Saturday.

The team arrived in Allentown at The Renaissance Hotel Thursday, September 26th. That afternoon the team went on the ice with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Any Phantom player who was brave enough to try got into a sled and practiced and scrimmaged with the National team. The players all had a great time and gained a lot of respect for what teams & players are able to accomplish.

After a fun-filled hour, the Sled team held their first-of-the-season practice at the PPL Center and then practiced again early Saturday morning. Afterwards, the National team coaching staff and a few of the players addressed our Level 1 coaches with one inspiring speech after another. The late afternoon practice featured a skate with our local Phantom Sled hockey team on ice with our National team.

The Phantoms sled team is less than one year old & has seen its numbers grow from the original 4 to over 16 aging between 4 & 25. The USA Hockey Rock Stars were unbelievable on the ice with the future stars, teaching them tricks of the trade & having FUN!

Successes all around for this group!
