NJ Warriors Make a Respectable Showing at 2019 USA Hockey Warriors Classic

Newark, NJ – October 8 th , 2019 – This past weekend, the New Jersey Warriors hockey program for disabled Veterans flew to Las Vegas, NV to compete in the Warriors Classic Hockey Tournament sponsored by USA Hockey and hosted by famed entertainer Terry Fator.

16 teams of disabled Veteran servicemen and women, from across the United States, came together for four days of competitive play and abundant camaraderie. There was a healthy mix of seasoned teams and brand-new Warrior Hockey programs, all coming together in the spirit of friendly competition to promote mental and physical health and rehab for our Veterans and bring awareness to the unacceptable frequency of suicide deaths in this community.

To that end, teams competing in USA Hockey’s 2019 Warriors Classic committed to doing 22 push-ups in front of every game as a reminder of the 22 Veterans, each day, that feel so alone and forgotten that they commit suicide. The New Jersey Warriors will make this a part of their warmup for every game, until that number goes down to zero.

About New Jersey Warriors

New Jersey Warriors hockey is a 501c3 non-profit, volunteer-run program created to give our disabled US Military Veterans an opportunity to rehab through the exciting world of Ice Hockey.

We provide a safe and welcoming outlet for disabled servicemen and servicewomen to connect with one another, challenge themselves and each other, and remind them that there’s still nothing they can’t do. Disabled Veterans can join our team as a way to connect, bond, and use this experience as a therapeutic way to physically rehab and manage stresses from their military experiences.

Our home ice is the Prudential Center in Newark NJ but you’ll find the NJ Warriors playing in regional matchups and national tournaments, representing our New Jersey roots wherever we go. We are supported by USA Hockey, the NHL NJ Devils, as well as corporate and community partners.

You Can Help.

The NJ Warriors are looking for individuals and corporations to support our efforts through tax-deductible donations, contributions, and partnerships. If your business is interested in reaching a loyal and growing audience, we have partnership opportunities that will allow you to give back to the community, help us help our disabled Veterans and raise awareness for Veterans issues.
