The AAHA is forming a Diversity & Inclusion (D & I) Committee that will support the USA Hockey and NHL initiatives of D & I and “Hockey is for Everyone”. The committee’s initial tasks will focus on determining appropriate resources for D & I education and other best practices.  The AAHA will also receive additional guidance from USA Hockey’s Stephanie Jackson (Director of D & I) to help shape the Committee’s overall objectives and D & I challenges within the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association.

“We need to take the next steps in our Affiliate in making all aspects of our sport welcoming, safe and accepting so that hockey can truly be for everyone. I am excited to form our D & I Committee and working with USA Hockey and NHL leadership in addressing the needs for a diverse hockey community” stated AAHA President Glenn Hefferan.

The AAHA will seek to identify individuals for the D & I committee that reflects all disciplines and constituents. If you wish to be considered, please submit your letter of consideration to: DandIcommittee@aahahockey.org.

Please tell us something about yourself, your connection to hockey, the role you currently have in hockey (i.e., coach, referee, player, administrator, team manager, parent/guardian) and share any experience in youth sports. Please identify any professional experience in the realm of D & I, and what professional licenses you hold (doctor, electrician, lawyer, realtor, etc.). Having professional experience in D & I is not a requirement to participate with this Committee.
