USA HOCKEY COACHING PROGRAM UPDATE #3 – JUNE 2020
ATLANTIC DISTRICT PUSHES TEMPORARY CARD OPTION FOR COACHES

URGENT REQUEST

Are you planning to coach during the 2020*2021 season?
Is your current CEP Certification going to expire by 12/31/2020?
If yes, then you may want to take some form of action now.
Previously, we announced our plans CEP Certification:

  • Attend a virtual CEP certification clinic via ZOOM Video Meetings – to be scheduled mid-July through December for Levels 1-2-3-4
  • Attend an in-person CEP certification clinic, if allowed. These will not be considered before October 1st realizing that in-person clinics this season may not be possible based upon social gathering criteria set by each State.
  • Obtain a Temporary Card to be current for the 2020*2021 season.

We have taken a hard look at the capacity for us to host and conduct virtual clinics. The average number of coaches certified each year is approximately 1,900. For each Virtual Clinics, we will limit registration to 50 coaches. This will require us to schedule nearly 40 ZOOM events. Levels 1-2-3-4 clinics run between 5-7 hours each so we will be holding these over two nights [e.g. Monday & Wednesday, Tuesday & Thursday, and weekends on Saturday & Sunday.]

WE ENCOURAGE COACHES WITH EXPIRING CERTIFICATION TO OBTAIN THEIR TEMPORARY CARD.
This must be done by June 30th, and can be completed online at https://myevents.usahockey.com/2020tempcard#registration

  • By having the Temporary Card, you will not need to do anything else for your CEP Level in 2020*2021
    • You retain your existing CEP level as current through the season. You may not level up.
  • You may attend a future Virtual Clinic, if you desire, once posted at www.usahockey.com.coachingclinics
    • You will progress upward to the next CEP Level.
  • The fee you pay now for the Temporary Card will be applied to the Online Virtual Clinic fee.
  • Age-Specific Modules, Background Screening, and SafeSport must also be current.

We believe the Temporary Card for coaches is the best option right now. It gives you options for a clinic later in the year. In the event you choose not to, your CEP is kept current at your existing Levels 1-2-3-4.

A new coach just entering the CEP program is eligible too for the Temporary Card.
