NJ Rockets T-I 16U Battle in Missouri

The New Jersey Rockets played a thrilling game against the Colorado Thunderbirds today in Missouri on the fourth day of the Tier I Youth division’s 16U tournament. The Thunderbirds beat the Rockets in overtime 4-3.

The Rockets came out strong scoring two goals in the first period, the first by Micah Berger with even strength and the second by Nicholas Vantassell on a power play.

The score was 1-3 favoring the Rockets entering the third period, but David Klee scored a goal for the Thunderbirds 10 minutes in that was quickly followed by a goal from Jack O'Rourke to tie the score at 3-3.

In overtime, Forward Noah Grolnic scored the goal that would mean victory for the Thunderbirds and make the score 4-3. The Rockets were undefeated in pool play prior to facing the Thunderbirds and were nationally-ranked.
