Ross Colton scored the game-winning goal in game five of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in Tampa, Florida last night. Late in the second period, David Savard fed the puck to Colton who was lined up in the slot and put the puck past Canadiens goalie Carey Price.

Colton and the Tampa Bay Lightning maintained the intensity, holding back the Canadiens for another full period. The Lightning went on to win the game 1-0, ending the series in their favor 4-1.

In his first full season with the Lightning, Colton has shown himself to be competitive. Heading into playoffs, he was ranked second amongst rookies with three goals and two assists. He scored his first NHL goal during his first game with the league in February against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Prior to playing for the Lightning, Colton was part of the Atlantic District and USA Hockey’s Player Development Program. A former forward on the Mercer Chiefs and New Jersey Rockets, Colton is from Robbinsville, New Jersey.
