HO-HO-KUS, N.J. - As amateur hockey continues to grow across Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, more events and programs require a higher level of detail to ensure the best experience for USA Hockey members. The Atlantic Affiliate announces the hiring of Eric Michaels to the position of operations coordinator for the organization.

“Our volunteers work tirelessly everyday for the betterment of amateur hockey,” explained President Glenn Hefferan. “Having Eric onboard will further support our many efforts, especially during the postseason when we have so many different events going on in different locations.”

A former player within the footprint and a 15-year official, Michaels has experience inside the rink to support ongoing growth initiatives. In his new role, he will support the volunteer-led organization by handling logistics and operations matters for affiliate events, like the Road to Nationals. These tournaments are the time of year when thousands of families head to the rinks excited for highly-competitive hockey with National Bound tournament bids and affiliate championship titles on the line.

“I’m thrilled to get into a position and start giving back and contributing to the same great experiences that I’ve had for the next generation of players, coaches, and officials,” said Michaels.

A graduate of Holy Ghost Prep in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, he currently coaches a high school team within the affiliate as well. He attended Temple University in Philadelphia and has participated actively in USA Hockey’s Officiating Development Program, working games in the United States Hockey League and NCAA.

“We’re excited to welcome Eric to the team,” remarked Executive Vice President Maureen Thompson-Siegel. “His strong hockey background and understanding of the landscape will support our work growing the game within the footprint.”

Michaels officially started on March 1 and can be reached at emichaels@aahahockey.org
