COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Women’s hockey continues to grow at a rapid pace across the nation, and the Atlantic Affiliate is represented on the international stage with two eastern Pennsylvanian players earning coveted spots on the Collegiate Select and U18 Series rosters. Grace Dwyer is on the Collegiate Select team and Sloane Hartmetz was picked for the U18 program.
Team USA takes the ice against Canada in the three-game series starting Wednesday, Aug. 14. This year, the games are being held in St. Catharines, Ontario. Dwyer is no stranger to international competition, having played in the 2023 Collegiate Series and been a part of the 2022 IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship team that earned the silver medal. She currently plays at Cornell University after a storied youth hockey career that included an appearance at USA Hockey Youth Nationals.
This will be Hartmetz’s first appearance in international play. She played youth hockey at the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers and spent last season with Shattuck St. Mary’s. The U18 game starts at 4 p.m. ET, followed by the Collegiate Select game at 7:30 p.m. ET each day through Saturday, Aug. 17.
